I went to see the projection mapping exhibition FLOWERS by NAKED in Roppongi. The curator, Muramatsu Ryotaro, put the gig together. It was my second time to see a work by NAKED, the first time was the projection mapping collaboration with JAL x TEDxHaneda in July.
Projection mapping has been around for a while but it’s always refreshing to see new surfaces being projected on. FLOWERS transformed the space and felt like a greenery. It made me appreciate the connection between our physical the digital world more.
The space was dimly lit and everywhere was a canvas.
There were a lot of interactive elements in the space. When you touched or moved, an animation would trigger.
Some of the bigger installations had other bits and pieces to it that changed the space adding variety to the experience.
The table areas were like mood boards, you can see feel something different when you look at the flower arrangement and lighting used.
Overall it was a fun little get away within the city. Not many people were inside so it had the vibe of being hidden from big city life. Note to self: WEAR WHITE!
